Christian Friends

Last night, after a few days of complete writers block, I found what I should blog about for this morning. I was doing a devotional with my husband, it was about Finding True Christian Friends. What a much needed item for us to be reading at this point in our lives and I thought why not share what I learned and read last night.

In Galations 6:1-3 (New Living Translation), it says "Dear brother and sisters, if another Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other's troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone in need, you are only fooling yourself. You are really a nobody."

This scripture and my devotional gave tips on what a Christian Friend will do with you or what you can do for your friends. A Christian Friend will:

1. Tell you when you've sinned, gently and with love

2. Can help you through a struggle without judgement because let's face it WE ALL can very easily fall into sin

3. Will be strong enough to cry with you when you are hurting and praise with you through all storms and calms

God did not intend for us to be solo Christians, doing it all on our own. We need our Father's guidance and strength as well as a friends ear, hugs and occasional tears. God uses our Christian friends to help Him in His plan for our lives, to correct us and to help us stay on the right path.

So in conclusion, a quote from the devotional I read, "Having a friend who is a Christian is not just a benefit - it is a necessity! And that is how Jesus wants it to be. Therefore, build your Christian friendships, and in so doing, you will help strengthen yourself and the body of Christ." God wants us to first lean on Him during the storms but He also has blessed us with friendships here on earth to help us and comfort us. What an awesome gift!
